- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★I'm not a big fan of Ashland politics and such but I have to commend the Police Department in Ashland for their 'bait bike' plan. Buying a $1,500 bike so that if someone steals it -- it nets them a Felony -- is awesome! About time bike theft is taken seriously!By Steve Ryan, April 06, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Typical cops complete with big fat heads and no respect for the public. I just got out of a meeting where most of us were volunteers. The meeting started with everyone introducing themselves. Officer Steve MacLennan was there representing the City of Ashland Police Department and first to introduce himself to the rest of the group. He said, "I'm Steve McLennon" a few short seconds later someone said, "Is that it?" Steve replied, "I pickup trash." I was a little offended as I have been pulled over by the police so he must think I am trash. I later asked two people what they thought about his comments and they both thought it was inappropriate. I then called the police department and spoke to the Sargent on duty and he laughed saying he was being funny. I guess our small town has the same problems some bigger cities have, the cops think we are lower class, even TRASH. I wonder how long it will be before we make the new for police brutality. I mentioned that Steve is not liked by many around town and the Sargent agreed with me saying that "People don't like him because he doesn't give warnings, he gives out tickets." I replied that, "lots of cops give tickets but he is the one people don't like and that resent studies have shown giving warnings really helps with public relations." The Sargent said that Steve's job is to write tickets and not to work on public relations." I said, "All cops are working on public relations but that Steve is making them worse." The Sargent said he would talk to him about his comments, I doubt that will happen but I will be checking up on that in a day or two.
